Prof. José Holguín-Veras

Prof. José Holguín-Veras is the William H. Hart Professor and Director of the Center for Infrastructure, Transportation, and the Environment at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). A leading expert in freight transportation and humanitarian logistics, his research integrates economics, civil engineering, and social sciences. He is known for his practical solutions to complex problems related to urban freight and disaster response. Prof. Holguín-Veras, a recipient of the 2013 White House Champion of Change Award, directs the VREF Center of Excellence on Sustainable Urban Freight Systems and has conducted field analyses of major disasters worldwide.

Prof. Manoranjan Parida

Prof. Manoranjan Parida is presently Director of CSIR-Central Road Research Institute.  He was Deputy Director at IIT Roorkee before joining CSIR-CRRI. He has been MoRTH Chair Professor on Development of Highway System in India at IIT Roorkee during 2013-2017.  Design and Development of Noise Barrier for Flyovers in Delhi is an innovative contribution by him. He has provided substantial inputs for third party quality audit of 1700 km. of State Highway in the State of Bihar (during 2007-2013) under the RSVY Project. He has supervised 32 Ph.D. Theses and published more than 450 papers in Journals/Conferences. He has provided consultancy for more than 350 urban road infrastructure projects, intercity corridors, rural roads, and expressways.  As a Director of CRRI he has played a crucial role in the development of Steel Slag Road Technology, AI based Road Safety Solutions for Nagpur (iRASTE), Third Party Quality Evaluation of Dwarka Expressway, Promotion of Usage of Industrial Waste in Road Construction and providing solutions to road infrastructure development in border areas. He received Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award in the year 2004 from Indian Road Congress. He has received the Outstanding Teacher Award of IIT Roorkee. He is presently Convener of H-1 Committee of Indian Roads Congress, New Delhi. He is convener of PCD6 (Bitumen, Tar & Other Products) Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards. He is also President of Indian Roads Congress. 

Prof. Mark Zuidgeest

Prof. Mark Zuidgeest is a civil engineer specializing in transport planning and engineering, with a focus on developing countries. He holds the SANRAL Endowed Chair at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he also heads the Civil Engineering Department. His research interests include transport geography, social exclusion, and public transport, particularly as they relate to urban poverty. Prof. Zuidgeest, who earned his PhD in the Netherlands, has advised on and led research projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He also serves as a visiting professor at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea.

Prof. Tom V. Mathew

Professor and Head
Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

Prof. Tom V. Mathew is a faculty member at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), specializing in Transportation Systems Engineering. His research interests include traffic flow modeling, adaptive traffic control systems, and intelligent transportation systems. He earned his Ph.D. from IIT Madras, focusing on urban bus transit network design. Known for his structured teaching approach, Prof. Mathew provides students with a strong foundation in transportation engineering. He contributes to the community through research publications, various government and industry funded projects and professional committees including IRC and BIS. He is also the chairman of the research counsil of National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC). He is also one of the founding members of TRG and TiDE. Currently, he is an Editorial Board Member of TiDE.

Prof. Murali Krishnan J

Dr. Murali Krishnan is a Professor of Civil Engineering at IIT Madras with over two decades of academic, research, and professional experience in pavement materials, rheology, and constitutive modeling. His work focuses on understanding and predicting the mechanical response of bituminous binders and mixtures, with applications ranging from advanced material characterization to pavement design and recycling technologies. Dr. Murali Krishnan actively contributes to the professional pavement engineering community through editorial and leadership roles, serving on boards and committees of major journals and standards organizations.

Prof. Ashish Verma

Prof.  Ashish Verma is the Convenor of “IISc Sustainable Transportation Lab. (IST Lab.)”. He is Ph.D. from IIT Bombay and is currently serving as a Professor of Transportation Systems Engg. at Dept. of Civil Engg, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. Before joining IISc, he has served in IIT Guwahati, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). His research interests are in; sustainable transportation planning & policy, transport & Livability/Quality of Life (QoL), and related areas. He has authored more than 290 research publications. He also has a patent and a software copyright to his credit. He is the founding Editor-in Chief (EiC) of the new journal “Sustainable Transport and Livability” published by T&F. He is the Founding and Immediate Past President of TRG. He is also currently serving as Vice-President of Institute of Urban Transport (India). He is the Founding President of the newly founded “International Group on Sustainable Transport and Livability (IGSTL)”. 

Dr R P Singh

Dr. R. P. Singh is a distinguished Geotechnical Engineering professional with over 20 years of experience in railway infrastructure development. He holds an M.Tech and Ph.D. from IIT Bombay and has published multiple award-winning research papers contributing to advancements in railway geotechnics.

He began his career with Indian Railways in 2002, serving in key construction and maintenance roles across major divisions including Solapur, Mumbai, Pune, and Bhusawal. From 2015 to 2018, he was Assistant Professor (Track) at IRICEN Pune, where he set up a modern Geotechnical Laboratory to enhance technical training and investigation capabilities.

Currently, Dr. Singh serves as Joint General Manager at the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project. He has led major technical initiatives, including the introduction of Auto Hammer in SPT testing, development of Asia’s largest Geotechnical Laboratory in Surat, and oversight of a pioneering 21 km undersea tunnel. He brings strong technical acumen and project management expertise to highspeed rail development in India.
