Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The campus is on a sprawling 704 acres, consisting of lakes, hills and is located on the north bank of the mighty River Brahmaputra around 20 km from the heart of the Guwahati city.
From Guwahati Airport: The campus is located close to 27 km from LGB international airport Guwahati. Prepaid taxis are available from the airport to the IITG campus. Taxi fare is approximately Rs. 700 from the airport to the IITG campus. There are 8 airlines flying from Guwahati to 15+ airports around the world, as of August 2023. Major cities of India which had direct air connectivity are Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Imphal, Dibrugarh, Aizawl, Dimapur, Bagdogra, Patna, Itanagar, Silchar, Jorhat. Further one can reach Guwahati from most of the cities of India by a maximum of one transfer.

IITG bus from Guwahati: IIT Guwahati runs buses from Guwahati city to IITG campus at regular intervals. The fare is Rs. 10. The designated stop is near Don-Bosco School in Panbazar. It is a 10-minute walk from Guwahati railway station.
